Introduction to the VW Bus Photo Gallery Website

The next website I decided to build was a photo gallery of VW Buses.

The purpose of this website was to provide a photo gallery of the many types of Volkswagen Camper Van and Volkswagen Bus including Splitscreen, Bay Window Type 2, T25 / T3 / Vanagon, T4, T5 and LT.

Hopefully the site will be an interesting read for all VW Camper and VW Bus enthusiasts as well as a useful source of reference when details and photographs of a particular model are required.

To see the VW Camper Vans and Buses currently in the gallery please Click Here.

Please help improve the site by submitting photos of your VW Camper Van or Bus now ! I would like to have images of all types of buses from rat look to pristine original, from working bus to customised show winner.

1991 VW T4 Transporter Autosleeper Trident

Having built websites with full model histories of the various conversions made for models based on both the VW T25 and T4 Transporter chassis I now knew a lot more about the various options available in the UK. So when the opportunity came along to purchase a VW T4 Transporter Autosleeper Trident camper for a reasonable price I jumped at the chance.

It was the first Autosleeper conversion I had owned and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the construction materials used and the functional design. In my view Westfalia campers still have the edge over all the British conversion companies of the time due to their more modern look and use of lighter weight materials but as they are only available in left hand drive a lot of UK drivers would not consider them.

My new Autosleeper Trident had a 2.0 litre petrol engine mated to a five speed gearbox. It was one of the earlier VW T4’s which didn’t have power steering (it was available as an optional extra at first until it became standard a couple of years later). The petrol engine was very smooth and pulled well although fuel consumption was not brilliant at around 25 – 28 mpg. I think if you were planning on keeping a van like this for a number of years it would be worth getting it converted to run on LPG.

Introduction to the VW T4 Transporter Camper Information Site

Having built the VW T25 / T3 / Vanagon Camper Information Website I decided that I would build a similar site providing information on the campers that had been built using the VW T4 Transporter as a base. So for each of the main conversion companies I built a website with a full model history, downloads of owners manuals, downloads of appliance manuals, magazine reviews / adverts and details of relevant parts suppliers etc.  So far I have built sites for Autosleeper, Autohomes and Holdsworth 😉 Not to forget the site I had already built for VW T4 Transpoter Westfalia conversions.

All these sites can be accessed from the VW T4 Transporter Camper Information Website homepage.

Introduction to the VW T25 / T3 / Vanagon Camper Information Site

Because the price of VW T25 / T3 Westfalia campervans had gone up and the euro was strong against the pound it was no longer viable to buy Westfalia campers from Germany so I started to look around at the different camper conversions available in the UK. I realised there were some nice conversions available but was overwhelmed by the number of different conversion companies and models that had been made over the years. I decided that for each of the main conversion companies I would build a website with a full model history, downloads of owners manuals, downloads of appliance manuals, magazine reviews / adverts and details of relevant parts suppliers etc.  Over the next couple of years I built sites for Autosleeper, Autohomes, Holdsworth and then finally Devon conversions ! Not to forget the site I had already built for VW T25 / T3 Westfalia conversions.

All these sites can be accessed from the VW T25 / T3 / Vanagon Camper Information Website homepage.

I am always looking for copies of sales brochures, price lists, owners user manuals, magazine adverts and reviews so if you have any that are not already on the relevant site please send me a copy and help improve the site for all VW camper enthusiasts. Contact details are HERE 😉
